With Celcius thermometers each line is one degree.

If the red chemical in the thermometer is between the lines then you would use a decimal.

For example, half way between 10 and 11 degrees would be 10.5 degrees Celcius.

Old and New Roses May Grow Suckers

"New" roses are very often grafted onto a piece of root-stock from a different

kind of rose that is known to be hardy, with a strong root system. The drawback

to this is that the root-stock is often so vigorous that it sends up suckers--long,

thorny shoots that often seem to spring straight out of the ground. If left to

themselves, some suckers will eventually flower, showing blooms of the original

variety, and very different from the grafted canes. (One variety often used for root

stock is Dr. Huey, which will make small red flowers if allowed to bloom.)
